Dental preventive care and early diagnosis

In addition, every child from the age of two and a half to the age of six is ‚Äč‚Äčentitled to three dental screening examinations. You should be aware of this above all if your child already has tooth decay and / or if he is not already taking part in serial dental examinations - so-called group prophylactic measures - elsewhere, for example in the daycare center. Like the pediatric examinations, these dental screening examinations should also be carried out in certain age phases, if possible:

  • 1st date: 30th to 42nd month of life (two and a half to three and a half years)
  • 2nd date: 49th to 52nd month of life (4 years + 1 month to 4 years + 4 months)
  • 3rd date: 60th to 72nd month of life (5 to 6 years)

There should be at least twelve months between the individual examination appointments. You will be given comprehensive advice on how your child can eat healthily, what to look out for when brushing their teeth and how best to ensure an adequate supply of fluoride. If necessary, your child's teeth will be given a fluoride varnish as a precaution to protect them from tooth decay.
Of course, you should also take your child to the dental practice for your own check-ups - ideally as soon as the first tooth has erupted. In this way, it can get used to regular dentist visits as something completely normal. At the latest when all the teeth are there, dentists recommend a six-monthly check-up for the children's teeth anyway.
