Mental freedom: how to get it

There are times when stress has a firm grip on us. Challenges at work, deadlines and then perhaps countless obligations in private life - your head is spinning. How mental bondage harms

To understand what is meant by mental freedom and how you can attain it, let's first take a look at the opposite. Mental bondage shows up in different situations that many people know. That is why mental freedom is so important because it is allows room for maneuver. It is crucial for us to be healthy, to experience quality of life and personal success. The difficulty lies in getting it and keeping it.

This has to do with the fact that every person is part of a society and is therefore subject to certain norms and values. To what extent we do this, however, for us accept and obeyis our own responsibility.

Social norms and values ​​shape

Of course, no one can easily get away from it certain beliefs clear. We have been socialized in a certain environment. Society, parents, teachers and people around us shape us and our thinking.

An example: Every society is based in some way on the seniority principle. That means what older people have to say, theirs values ​​and standards, are largely adopted and not questioned. In a sense, they get advance praise for being older and having more experience.

This thinking promotes self-fulfilling prophecies rather than actually corresponding to the truth. This mental lack of freedom leads to people depriving themselves of the opportunity to develop and to take a new path.

This means that they may be the same again and again frustrating experiences preprogrammed instead of something changing for the better.

Allow and seek new experiences

It helps you to come up with new ideas in situations in which you were previously stuck.

Outwardly, you can accompany this process by parting with unnecessary ballast. Old furniture and clothes that you don't like for a long time, but still stand around in the corner.   • Choose consciously.

    Adopt new, beneficial beliefs; for example, you can work with affirmations. Find new experiences that you have fun - learn a new language, take a dance class - consciously acquire new knowledge. New impulses on different levels, physical, emotional and spiritual, ensure that you can compare with old experiences.

  • Listen to your gut.

    What does your body actually signal in certain situations? Sometimes people have forgotten how to perceive their body's signals. You probably register the common cold, perhaps also the increasing frequency of infections. But the tension in the stomach and neck are ignored. More mindfulness, especially towards yourself, contributes to mental freedom.
